What Is a Guajillo Chile?

Guajillo Chiles are peppers that have a deep, red color with yellow and black specks that are spicy and persistently warm as you eat them. The chiles are the dried form of the Marisol Pepper and are native to Mexico, particularly Durango, Aguascalientes, and San Luis Potosi.

Once dried, the flavors and heat from the Marisol become concentrated and preserve the pepper for a longer shelf life. It is this dried version of the Marisol that captures the bold flavor and grinding it up into a powder, allows for ease of use in your of your favorite Southwest recipes.

How Ground Guajillo Chile Powder Is Used

Spiceology sources only the best Marisol Peppers, bringing the fresh and vibrant heat of the Guajillo Chile to your kitchen. This pepper is very versatile and the smokiness of the Guajillo is one that can be added to Mexican dishes like salsas, enchiladas or soups, cheese sauces, purees and any other dish where a smoky/fruity/spicy notes may be desired.
