Gumbo Filé | Glass Jar


Filé powder is dried, powdered sassafras tree leaves used in Cajun cuisine as a thickening agent. Add it add the end of cooking your gumbo, just after removing it from the heat, to thicken the stew. Gumbo isn't nearly as difficult to cook as some chefs would like you to believe, so grab some filé powder and give it a go!
