There a few things better than steak and potatoes.
To celebrate our Prime Rib blend now being available in Costco Midwest (for a limited time), Chef Ryan sears up a steak and some loaded fries for dinner.
Never used our Prime Rib blend? It really should be called “Not-Just-Prime-Rib” because of just how versatile this steak seasoning can be. With smoked paprika, garlic, onion, tomato powder, red bell pepper, and more – it adds a zesty, peppery kick to whatever you’re cooking.
Prime Rib Steak Frites
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Cook Time: 40 minutes
- Total Time: 1 hour
- Yield: 1–2 servings 1x
Ingredients
- Steak of your choice, here I used a bone in Strip-loin, 1 1/2” thick
- Spiceology Prime Rib seasoning, as needed
- 3–4 medium size potatoes
- Olive oil, as needed
- Canola oil for frying, as needed
- Flaky salt for finishing
- Optional: Parsley and Asiago cheese and Spiceology Garlic Junkie for the fries (It’s delicious)
Instructions
- Take your steak out of the fridge and let come to room temperature.
- Season your steak with olive oil and Spiceology Prime Rib seasoning.
- Wash and cut your potatoes into fry size of your liking, soak in water for 20-30 minutes to get the extra starches out.
- Heat your canola oil to 325°F, and carefully add in your potatoes (cook in batches for more of an even cook) and cook for 2-3 minutes, just to blanche them. Remove from oil and let cool.
- For this steak I reverse seared it. Set your oven to 250°F, cook steak to 125°-135°F internal (depending on the size of your steak this will take 20-40 minutes.
- Heat your grill to high heat. Sear your steak on both sides to your liking (this will not take long as your steak is already cooked, your are just getting the sear on it now). Let your steak rest.
- Heat your oil back up to 350°-375°F to second fry your fries, this will take 3-5 minutes.
- Slice your steak, and serve with your homemade fries (load them up if you like!) and a garlic aioli, too! Enjoy.
