This is one loaded Smashed Lamb Burger.
Chef Tony tops this double decker with a shakshuka-inspired sauce, sunny side up egg, feta, and more for a messy-but-good burger.
This recipe gets the one-two punch of our Mediterranean blends, including the Spanish-inspired Tomatador with tomato, thyme, garlic, chiles, and more, plus our best-selling Greek Freak blend with orange peel, sundried tomato, rosemary, oregano, and more.
Tomatador Smashed Lamb Burger

Ingredients
Shakshuka Inspired Sauce:
- 1 pint Bianco DiNapoli Roasted Chopped Tomatoes
- 3 Tbsp Spiceology Tomatador Spanish-Inspired Mediterranean Blend
- 1/2 Yellow Onion, Small Dice
- 1/2 Red Bell Pepper, Small Dice
Burger Patty:
- 1 lb Ground Beef (80:20)
- 5 oz Ground Lamb
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Dijon Mustard
- 1/4 cup Spiceology Greek Freak Blend
Toppings:
- Chopped Cilantro/Parsley (50:50 mix) for Garnish
- Fried Sunny Side Up Egg for Garnish
- 8 pieces of Flat Bread from Kontos
- Feta Cheese for Patty Garnish
Instructions
- Mix together burger patty ingredients until mixed well together.
- Make into 4 oz patties, set aside.
- In a medium-large sauté pan on medium heat, sweat your onions and peppers for the shakshuka-inspired sauce.
- Once sweat, add the roasted chopped tomatoes and Spiceology Tomatador blend. Cook for about 5-7 minutes on a simmer.
- While simmering, cook your burger patties on a flat top griddle (like a Blackstone or a large sauté pan), smash each patty with a press on to cooking surface on high heat.
- Once your patty creates a nice crust on the cook side (2-3 minutes) flip over and repeat.
- After flipping the patty and the feta cheese over the top.
- Once the feta begins to melt remove from the flat top stack two patties on top of each other for each serving.
- While your patty is cooking on the last side you’ll want to crack an egg and cook sunny side up on your griddle or pan.
- Build your burger from bottom up: Kontos Flat Bread / Two Patties coated in feta / Shakshuka-inspired Sauce / Egg / Feta / Kontos Flat Bread
