Smoky Honey Habanero Savory Sweet Potato Casserole

Ingredients

  • 5 cups mashed sweet potatoes (we used store bought from Sprouts)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted melted butter
  • 1 1/2 cups pecans, roughly chopped
  • 2 cups sourdough loaf, 1-inch cubes
  • 1 cup gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 4 tablespoons, divided Spiceology Smoky Honey Habanero
  • Lemon zest, for garnish
  • Parsley, for garnish
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F. 
  2. In a large bowl, mix together mashed sweet potatoes and 2 tablespoons Spiceology Smoky Honey Habanero. Set aside. 
  3. Melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter and then mix in 1 tablespoon Spiceology Smoky Honey Habanero. 
  4. In another large bowl, mix together bread cubes, shredded cheese, chopped pecans, and melted butter mixture and toss until evenly coated. Shake in more Spiceology Smoky Honey Habanero, if desired. 
  5. Evenly spread mashed sweet potatoes into lightly greased 3 quart Pyrex dish. 
  6. Evenly top with bread topping mixture. 
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until bread cubes are golden brown and cheese is melted. 
  8. Top with lemon zest and parsley for garnish. 
  9. Serve immediately.
