Our friends at Awake Chocolate (yep, that’s caffeinated chocolate for those that don’t know… and yes, chocolate has caffeine to begin with) challenged us to take a classic cocktail and add chocolate.
Chef Christian answered with… Apple Cinnamon… Chocolate… Manhattan. None of those words go together and yet this drink is absolutely delicious. So, if you want to be awake on a sugar high and with a bit of a buzz… this is the drink for you. Indulge accordingly (and responsibly).

Ingredients
-
1 Awake Dark Chocolate Bite (shaved)
-
2 Tbsp and a pinch Spiceology Apple Cinnamon Blend
-
2 oz Rye Whiskey
-
1 oz Cardamaro
-
1 oz Sweet Red Vermouth
-
1 Luxardo Cherry
-
1/8 cup Maple Syrup
-
2 dashes Chocolate Bitters
-
1 Coupe Glass
Directions
Place shaved Awake Dark Chocolate, Spiceology Apple Cinnamon blend, and maple syrup into three small bowls that are wider than the circumference of the coupe glass.
Rim the coupe with maple syrup, shaved chocolate, and apple cinnamon in that order.
In a mixing glass, combine whiskey, Cardamaro, sweet red vermouth, and two dashes of chocolate bitters. Fill mixing glass half way with ice. With a long stirring spoon, stir for 20 seconds.
Remove coupe from the freezer. Strain cocktail into the coupe.
Garnish with Luxardo cherry and enjoy.
