Bold, smoky, and built for a serious sear, these cauliflower steaks prove vegetables can bring the drama. Thick slices get brushed with olive oil, coated in Spiceology Black Magic Cajun Blackening Seasoning, and roasted until deeply browned with crisp edges. A hit of fresh lemon at the finish keeps things bright, balancing the heat and turning a humble head of cauliflower into a centerpiece-worthy dish.

Black Magic Blackened Cauliflower Steaks

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of cauliflower

  • 3 Tbsp olive oil

  • 2 Tbsp Spiceology Black Magic Cajun Blackening Seasoning

  • 1 lemon, zested and squeezed

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 425°F. Line a sheet pan with parchment or foil.

  2. Trim the stem just enough so the cauliflower sits flat. Slice into 4 thick “steaks” (about ¾–1 inch). Save loose florets for another use.

  3. Place steaks on the pan. Brush both sides with olive oil.

  4. Sprinkle Black Magic seasoning evenly on both sides.

  5. Roast 20–25 minutes, flipping once halfway, until deeply browned and tender with crisp edges.

  6. Finish with lemon zest and juice from lemon. Serve hot.

Cauliflower That Actually Steals the Show

High heat is your best friend. Roast at 425°F, don’t overcrowd the pan, and flip once. That’s how you get those crispy, blackened edges that bring all the flavor.

Surprisingly… yes. Thick-cut, well-seasoned, and roasted right, these hit like a main. Add a sauce or side and you’ve got a full-on meal.

Absolutely. Toss them on a hot grill and let the flames do their thing. You’ll get even more smoky flavor and that signature char that takes this dish over the top.
