Avocado toast has a reputation for being basic. This one earns a pass. Brown Butter Parmesan brings toasted, nutty depth and a hit of Parmesan umami that plays perfectly off creamy avocado and bright lemon — no extra effort required. Eight minutes of prep, four minutes on the heat, and you have a breakfast or snack that tastes like you were actually trying.

Ingredients

2 thick slices rustic sourdough

1 Tbsp olive oil

1 ripe avocado

2 tsp fresh lemon juice

1.5 tsp Spiceology Brown Butter Parmesan Blend, divided

2 Tbsp freshly grated Parmesan

Flaky sea salt, to finish

Red pepper flakes (optional)
Directions
Brush both sides of the bread with olive oil. Toast in a skillet or on a griddle over medium-high heat for about 2 minutes per side, until deeply golden and crisp.
Mash the avocado with the lemon juice and 1 tsp of the Brown Butter Parmesan until chunky-creamy.
Spread the avocado mixture over the toast. Top with grated Parmesan, the remaining 0.5 tsp of blend, flaky sea salt, and red pepper flakes if using.
Serve immediately.

For a heartier plate, crown each toast with a jammy fried or soft-boiled egg — the runny yolk and nutty Brown Butter Parmesan blend are a perfect match.
