How Do I Use Turkey Rub?
Dry brining is a simple and easy to use technique that can elevate your holiday meal planning.
Some chefs recommend covering your turkey in either butter or olive oil and then massaging it with the flavorful rub so the bird can absorb all the tastes.
Unlike a liquid marinade, these spices don’t slide off once inside the oven or on the grill, so your bird will come out with a crispy outside and juicy and flavorful inside, every time. You can also add a dab of oil directly to the rub which will form a sort of paste. In fact, you should try to eliminate as much moisture from your turkey or poultry as possible.
You can even pat it with a paper towel, or let it sit and dry out before covering it with the rub.
This will give you a less crispy topping, but you’ll still get to enjoy all the flavors, just like a traditional, turkey dry rub. Some chefs like to let the turkey sit in the refrigerator covered with dry rub and plastic wrap for a few days before baking, that way the flavor can really soak in. This can be a great last-minute method when it comes to seasoning your meat quickly.
And when it comes to the question “how much” turkey rub to use… there is a rule of thumb to help us remember:
1tsp of rub for every 1lb of meat. When making a wet rub, a 1 to 1 ratio is always recommended.
We hope the Spiceology Turkey Rub finds its way into your pantry in time for the holidays, and we hope you enjoy the flavor so much, you use it year-round. Let it be your go-to to flavor any kind of poultry or pork, sausage, stuffing or even potatoes. It’s versatile, foolproof, and flavorful. The perfect combination.
