Crispy rye bread, melted Gruyere, and a Cajun-blackened beef patty piled with smoky honey habanero onions — this is a patty melt that earns its reputation. Spiceology Black Magic Cajun Blackening Blend gives the beef a deeply savory crust while Nashville Hot Thousand Island brings creamy heat to every bite. This is weeknight dinner with a serious weekend vibe.

Black Magic Patty Melts

Ingredients

    • 4 tablespoons Spiceology Black Magic Cajun Blackening Blend

    • 8 slices Rye Bread 4 slices Gruyere (or Swiss)
    • 1 lb Beef, Ground (80/20)
    • 4 tablespoons Butter, Unsalted

    • 1 cup Mayonnaise
    • 2 tablespoons Dijon Mustard

    • 3 tablespoons Pickles, minced

    • Spiceology Nashville Hot Chicken Blend to taste
    • 2 tablespoons Ketchup

    • 2 tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar

    • 2-3 tablespoons Spiceology Smoky Honey Habanero Blend

    • 1 Onion, Small Diced
    • 3-4 dashes Worcestershire Sauce

    Directions

    1. Divide your beef into 4 (4 oz) patties and set aside.
    2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each bread slice and set aside.
    3. On a flat top grill or medium sauté pan on medium heat, caramelize onion dice. Once the onions start to darken in color add the Spiceology Smoky Honey Habanero and toss with onions.

    4. Add Worcestershire and stir. Once caramelized (10-15 minutes) set aside.
    5. For the thousand island, mix together all ingredients in a medium mixing bowl and set aside.
    6. On a flat top grill or medium sauté pan on medium high heat season one side of each patty with Spiceology Black Magic and blacken the patties about 2-3 minutes and do the same on the opposite side. After turning the patties, add caramelized onions then your cheese.

    7. Now toast the bread (butter side down) and spread thousand island on each upside bread slice.
    8. Add patty to toasted bread and place another slice on top of patty and serve immediately.
